Wisconsin Teen Poetry Slam:
April 12

Teen Poetry Slam

Slam season, here we go. This marks the 5th year of the Wisconsin Teen Poetry Slam, and the first year that poets from across the state will share one final stage. On April 12, the top youth poets from Madison, Milwaukee, and beyond will compete for a chance to represent Wisconsin at the Brave New Voices National Youth Poetry Slam in Washington, DC. The Madison semifinals will take place in late March, stay tuned for dates and locations. For Madison info, contact jghealey@wisc.edu , and for Milwaukee, dasha@stillwaterscollective.com

Line Breaks - The Remix:
April 22-25

Last year's Line Breaks residency hosted by Marc Bamuthi Joseph educated and electrified us all with 10 weeks of hip-hop theater. This spring, we're bringing Bamuthi back and remixing the lineup with an all-star lineup of hip-hop artists and scholars for 4 amazing, packed days of performances, panels, and discussions. Cosponsored by Hip-Hop as a Movement Week and the Afro-American Studies Words and Music Series, the Line Breaks Remix includes the First Wave Hip-Hop Theater Ensemble spring showcase on Thursday, April 24 at the Union Theater, hosted by Bamuthi. Contact wney@wisc.edu  for more info.
